I liked these games but I don’t have much to write about them. I recommend them.
Monster Hunter Rise, Deep Rock Galactic, Project Zomboid, Forza 5 Horizon, Just Cause 3, Grim Dawn, 7 Days to Die, Soul Caliber 6, Borderlands 3, Warhammer 3, Team Fortress 2, Rimworld, Sea of Thieves, Age of Empires 2, Tabletop Simulator, For the King, Lethal Company, American Truck Simulator, Borderlands 2, Slay, Risk of Rain 2, HALO CE: Cursed, Duck Game, Castle Crashers, First Class Trouble, Barotrauma, OPEN TTD, Mount and Blade Warband, Audiosurf 2, Sky Rogue, Heat Signature, SkyrimI’m a battlefield gamer and 2042’s launch news was extremely sad to hear. I only bought the game in 2023 and it must have been the years of updates but I had a ton of fun! There was some confusion related to if you needed to buy DLC to use certain weapons/gear, but I learned that if you just level up you get access to everything. I’m definitely too old for the normal PvP mode, but since they fill empty lobbies with AI, I tend to still get a few kills in a match.
Went back to play this more as a history lesson. It was pretty fun! The legendary weapons just swing so wide tho, a gun can either have more damage then weapons 40+ your level, or just end up less dps then a green gun. The biggest source of frustration for me was Moxie’s Underdome which was just a real slog for just 1 passive point. I cleared the game twice on Roland just using assault rifles and had a good time.
Now I haven’t played VRchat but I do like social spaces that have minigames in them, and Tower Unite is pretty dope. I found most people congregate around the Casino, but there is still a lot of cool things to do and the community is pretty chill. I mostly enjoyed the Pool Hall/Dance club as well as the Arcade. The minigolf game tho, jesus. Feels like the most unrelenting golf I’ve ever tried. Easy recommend if you’re looking for a social space to just vibe out in.
I don't play many MMOs, and my history is just Runescape and alittle Lost Ark when it was fresh, but man, Guild Wars 2 is a fucking awesome MMO. There are a few layers of gameplay that make it super awesome to play, even for just a complete newbie. I think the biggest draw tho is how everything feels populated, even lower level starting zones. The game incentivises players to do all the little quests on the map and also layers fun distractions ontop of that, so you end up constantly going from zone to zone checking cleaning up map markers and just doing random things. They game definitely wants you picking up the DLCs for the various quality of life stuff, as well as joining a guild for the various bonuses there. But if you're a pure solo player there is still a megaton of things to play with and check out. Definitively recommend if you're looking for a long commitment game.
There is more to come! However the end of the year ended up being pretty busy, so I'll add to this list when I get a chance. If this message is gone, then I finished all the reviews!
